Charles Allen Hopp

Charles Allen Hopp, age 87, of rural Pinckneyville, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 3:25 p.m. in the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.

Allen was born on December 10, 1917 in rural Pinckneyville, the son of Charles F. Hopp and Mabel (Ehler) Hopp.  He married Dorothy Owen and she preceded him in death on July 2, 1979.  Allen worked from the Illinois Central Railroad and on his family farm before his retirement.  He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville and enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Teresa Malawy Hopp of Pinckneyville, IL, 3 grandchildren, Donna Tripp of Seminole, Fla., Darren Hopp and wife Laura of Topeka, Kan.,  and Dr. Debra Hopp of Cape Coral, Fla., 2 great-grandchildren, Brittany and Nicholas Hopp.  two step-grandchildren, Gina Lawless and husband William of Pinckneyville, and Melinda Trader and husband Kevin of Scheller, four step-great-grandchildren, Abigail & Wyatt Lawless and Mackenzie & Matthew Trader and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by parents, a son, Eugene Hopp, a grandson, Stephen Hopp and two half brothers, Nelson and Harold Hopp.

Funeral services will be held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. with Father Brian Barker officiating.  Interment will be in the Old Campbell Cemetery in Pinckneyville.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2005 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
